Position Overview

Reporting to the Sr Director, Total Rewards, the Benefits Manager oversees the full scope of the clients health and welfare and retirement programs. This role is responsible for creating and developing an innovative benefits strategy that includes, health and welfare benefits, retirement benefits, leave of absence program, wellbeing, time away, family support benefits, and disability and disease prevention initiatives and strategy. The Benefits Manager will also participate in emerging initiatives and projects within the benefits arena, monitoring changes in competitive practice among leading companies and participate on cross functional projects within the People & Culture Team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee health and welfare programs and strategies in the areas of health, well-being, family support, disability and disease prevention/management initiatives
  • Responsible for identifying program deficiencies and recommending improvements
  • Partner with HR Business partners and HR Operations as an internal consultant on all projects/ initiatives with a health and welfare and retirement program strategy impact
  • Collaborate with finance and company leadership to set, develop and report on financial performance of benefits/well-being programs
  • Design time away programs such discretionary time off, vacation, sick and safe time
  • Drive program and vendor performance enhancements, program optimization, process simplification, employee engagement and communications, and data insight analyses
  • Review cross program data and metrics for insights on measuring program outcomes, engagement and improvements. Use data analytics to formulate recommendations on program enhancements as well as identify any not delivering anticipated ROI / value
  • Manage benefits vendor relationships, including benefits broker, and initiate RFPs for benefits programs. Make recommendations for changes that support an improved employee experience
  • Overall responsibility for benefits communications creation and delivery
  • Monitor and understand benefits industry trends and best practices, and bring forth recommendations for consideration to deliver on our Total Rewards strategy
  • Participate in other projects and initiatives as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Human Resources is a plus
  • 12+ years of benefits program management and vendor management responsibilities
  • Experienced in and working knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA, WAPFML, ADA and other benefit regulations and legislation
  • Excellent attention to detail, coupled with the ability to see the broader picture
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills, including a desire to roll up sleeves to prioritize work, execute plans and meet deadlines
  • Highest degree of confidentiality and discretion, time management, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to connect, leverage, influence and contribute to and learn from peers, leaders and stakeholders to achieve business outcomes
