Payroll & Benefits Manager
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll and Benefits Manager to join their team. In this role, you will have full ownership and responsibility for overseeing and executing all aspects of payroll processing and benefits administration. Your attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information will be crucial for success.
This is an onsite role in North Houston.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and deductions.
- Calculate and process payroll adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, overtime, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
- Collaborate with finance and HR teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting.
Benefits Management:
- Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Oversee open enrollment processes, including plan analysis, communication, and employee education.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefit-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to employees.
- Coordinate with benefit providers, brokers, and vendors to ensure effective plan administration.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with benefit plans and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to recommend enhancements and improvements.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all payroll and benefits-related regulations, such as ERISA, ACA, and FLSA.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1095-Cs, and quarterly/annual reports.
- Generate regular reports and metrics related to payroll, benefits utilization, costs, and trends.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for payroll and benefits processes.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and benefits processes, improve efficiency, and reduce errors.
- Implement best practices and automation tools to enhance accuracy and productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive system enhancements and integrations.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and identify areas for process optimization.
- Participate in HRIS and payroll system implementation and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5+ years of proven experience in end-to-end payroll administration and employee benefits management.
- Experience with Paycom highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Familiarity with benefits plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems; proficiency in using relevant software and tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
