Senior Payroll and HRIS Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Payroll and HRIS Specialist to join our client’s team in Southwest Houston! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in end-to-end payroll administration and be highly proficient in technology, with experience in implementing and managing HR systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Manage all aspects of payroll processing, including but not limited to payroll calculations, deductions, and adjustments, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple states.
  • Payroll Taxes: Stay up-to-date with payroll tax laws and regulations, process payroll taxes accurately and on time, and handle tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • HRIS Implementation and Management: Lead the implementation, configuration, and testing of HRIS systems, such as Workday, including setting up modules, workflows, and user access permissions.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular and ad-hoc reports from HRIS systems, analyze payroll data for accuracy and compliance, and provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Compliance and Legal Knowledge: Maintain a solid understanding of employment law, HR compliance, payroll law and compliance, and local, state, and federal regulations related to employees.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll and HRIS systems, streamline procedures, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and HRIS management.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems, with experience in Workday being a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes, reporting requirements, employment laws, and compliance regulations.
  • Proven track record of implementing HRIS systems, system configurations, and testing.
