Sr. Benefits Analyst

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assessment and administration of the company benefit programs, employee benefits education, training and communication, and ensuring plan provisions are properly applied and followed. Conduct analysis and administer multiple employee benefits programs including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, health savings account, life, flexible spending accounts, short-term and long-term disability, other ancillary benefits, time off policies (including leave administration), employee assistance program, COBRA, etc.

Benefit Program Administration

  • Assess eligibility, provides guidance/clarification on benefits plans, and resolves complex benefits issues (in partnership with broker, carriers and/or payroll as needed)
  • Ensure programs are being carried out appropriately based on plan descriptions and provisions
  • Coordinate and review the annual Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Benefit Coverage, certificates, plan amendments and documents for updates and accuracy
  • Engage in vendor management (and escalate as appropriate) to ensure to ensure Donaldson is receiving optimal service and integrations are working efficiently and effectively

Compliance

  • Research current benefit trends and regulatory/legislated requirements as well as take into consideration employee and administration experience plus best practices
  • Present recommendations and implementation changes to Benefits Manager
  • Leads administration of employee leave management, FSA and COBRA to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
  • Research, analyze and apply federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of new and existing laws, regulations and guidance applicable to plans including, but not limited to, the ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, Section 125 and COBRA

Analytics and Reporting

  • Identify, develop and/or maintain benefits dashboard and analytics
  • Execute timely reporting and filings including ACA, Form 5500’s, Summary Annual Reports, CMS reporting, non-discrimination testing, and other state and local reporting

Communications and Training

  • Develop communications and conduct benefit trainings to internal and external teams
  • Lead annual open enrollment including working with HRIS to ensure accuracy of plan set-up, testing, execution and auditing of employee enrollments along with communication materials and training
  • Serve as the lead in defining user requirements for health and welfare system processes, reports, and function. Partner with HRIS to conduct system assessments regularly in order to maintain/improve efficiency and compliance, makes recommendations, and completes user acceptance testing
  • Lead, own and drive miscellaneous benefit projects and initiatives including developing data analytics and ad-hoc reporting

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or related experience
  • 10+ years of employee benefits compliance and/or health plan experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding and working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Section 125, HSA rules and other benefit and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in research and analysis of health and welfare laws and regulations, 5500 filings and non-discrimination testing support with vendors
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel in creating and working with pivot tables, if-then statements, formulas, V-look ups, etc. and working with large data sets
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Self-directed and analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to conduct employee trainings
  • Strong time management, organization and project management skills
