Sr. HR Generalist
Our manufacturing client in the southwest Houston area is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join their organization and lead the development and implementation of their HR infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring 5-7 years of HR expertise, a track record of building HR processes from the ground up, and a deep understanding of the manufacturing industry.
Responsibilities:
- HR Infrastructure Development: Build the HR function from the ground up, designing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and systems that align with the company’s goals and values.
- Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, collaborating with department managers to identify staffing needs, creating job descriptions, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.
- Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management systems that drive employee development, productivity, and engagement. Provide guidance to managers on performance reviews, feedback, and goal setting.
- Employee Relations: Handle employee inquiries, grievances, and disciplinary matters. Ensure a positive and inclusive work environment by addressing concerns and maintaining open lines of communication.
- Training and Development: Identify training needs, design training programs, and coordinate development initiatives that enhance employees’ skills and contribute to career growth.
- Compliance and Legal: Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring the company’s HR policies and practices are compliant. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HR activities.
- Payroll and Benefits: Liaison with 3rd parties, serve as POC for employees, administer benefit plans.
- Workplace Culture: Foster a positive work culture that reflects the company’s values and supports employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- HR Reporting: Generate regular HR reports and metrics to provide insights into HR trends, turnover, and other relevant data to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5-7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record of HR leadership in manufacturing environments.
- Experience building HR infrastructure from scratch, ideally in a start-up or rapidly growing company.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to the manufacturing industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
- Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office suite.
- Must be comfortable serving as a hands on functional lead performing tactical tasks
- Need to have experience partnering with management and leadership
- Manufacturing experience preferred, any production environment experience required
- Must have experience with production services employees/blue collar populations (hourly)
